Dontay Jamal Robinson, 36, is facing multiple charges after he attempted to flee from police in a stolen Chevrolet sedan on Tuesday, Nov. 19, the Williamsport Bureau of Police said in a news release.
Robinson was driving the vehicle in the 900 block of Campbell Street in Williamsport when an officer noticed that he failed to come to a complete stop at an intersection before turning west on Rural Avenue, according to police.
The officer activated the lights and sirens on their patrol vehicle while attempting to pull Robinson over, police said. However, Robinson instead turned off his headlights before speeding through more than 18 other stop sign intersections while attempting to elude police.
Other patrol units pursued Robinson until his vehicle ran over a curb and came to a stop in a yard in the 600 block of Sheridan Street, according to police. He then fled on foot until officers caught him in the 1100 block of Charles Street.
Officers found that Robinson had a suspended driver's license and that the vehicle he was driving had incorrect plates and was reported stolen out of Philadelphia, police said.
He was charged with:
- Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer.
- Receiving Stolen Property.
- Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.
- Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
Robinson is also facing several traffic-related charges, according to court documents.
He's being held in Lycoming County Prison on $100,000 bail, court documents state. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5.
